During the summer, the French startup Teale successfully raised $11 million (€10 million) in funding. Teale specializes in providing a mental health platform tailored for employees, offering support to HR managers in mitigating burnout and addressing workplace disengagement.
Leading the Series A funding round are Alter Equity and Bpifrance’s Digital Venture fund, with continued investments from existing backers Isai and Evolem.
Teale offers a dual-purpose platform, serving as both a valuable employee benefit and a tool for HR managers to monitor organizational well-being.
Julia Néel Biz, the co-founder and CEO of Teale, explained their mission: “Our goal is to democratize mental health, destigmatize the topic, and leverage technology, data, and science to benefit mental health. This not only assists employees but also promotes the development of healthier organizations.”
Teale’s platform is accessible to all employees, allowing them to download and use the app to gain insights into their mental health. It starts with a survey that assesses mental health based on various criteria, employing a proprietary index developed in collaboration with a scientific advisory board of psychiatrists and psychology experts.
Following the assessment, Teale recommends relevant content from its extensive library of over 1,000 audio and video resources covering topics such as stress, sleep, burnout, bereavement, and infertility. Users can also schedule appointments with psychiatrists or psychologists, making it easier to initiate therapy.
On the managerial side, Teale provides tools for ensuring a healthy work environment without compromising privacy. It offers insights into platform usage within the company, including account creations and session requests. For groups of more than 20 individuals within a business unit, department, or country, Teale provides an average mental health score. This can help identify issues related to workload, management, or the ability to disconnect, aiding in team optimization and manager support.
To date, approximately 100 companies have adopted Teale to provide their employees with access to its services, including prominent firms like Sanofi, SNCF, Cartier, and EY. On average, 45% of employees at these companies use Teale. With the latest funding round, Teale plans to expand its workforce from 25 to 80 employees within the next 18 months and aims to expand its services to new regions.
