Microsoft’s mobile keyboard app SwiftKey gains new AI-powered features

In addition to the advancements in AI found in Windows 11 and Bing, Microsoft has recently revealed its plans to introduce new AI-driven functionalities to its SwiftKey mobile keyboard application, available on both iOS and Android platforms. SwiftKey, a third-party keyboard app, enables users to replace their default phone keyboards with an intelligent alternative that adapts to their writing style, thereby enhancing typing speed. Now, Microsoft is expanding SwiftKey’s capabilities to include AI camera lenses, AI stickers, an AI-powered text editor, and the ability to generate AI images directly from the app.

The forthcoming AI camera lenses will empower users to create photos, videos, and GIFs with a variety of effects, including lenses developed in collaboration with Snap, the creators of Snapchat. With over 250 tools and filters at your disposal, you’ll have ample means to express yourself creatively.

Additionally, AI stickers can be generated using Bing’s Image Creator, which allows users to create stickers based on their own photos or selfies. These personalized stickers can then be easily shared with friends and family while using various communication apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, and others. The Bing Image Creator is now conveniently accessible directly from the app’s keyboard, allowing you to capture a new image or upload an existing one to obtain Visual Search results from Bing within the app.

Furthermore, the app is introducing an AI-powered “Editor” feature, which assists users in improving their grammar, spelling, and punctuation. By highlighting a sentence, users can receive immediate feedback and suggestions from the editor.

Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to enhance SwiftKey have been ongoing for several months, with previous updates allowing users to seamlessly integrate Bing for searching, chatting with Bing Chat, and leveraging AI to personalize the tone of their text.

These exciting new features are gradually rolling out to SwiftKey on both iOS and Android platforms.
