Apple revamps iCloud.com with more features for drive, mail and notes

Apple has recently unveiled a revamped version of the iCloud.com website, following recent updates to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. This new iteration offers enhanced functionality, including support for browser notifications for Mail and Calendar on PCs, a customizable home page with quick-action capabilities, and a slideshow view for photos.

Last year, Apple introduced a redesign of iCloud.com, featuring convenient widgets for a quick overview of information from apps like Notes and Pages. This year’s update takes it a step further, allowing users to take direct actions from the home page, such as downloading files, deleting emails, marking items as unread, or checking off tasks in reminders.

One notable addition is the support for browser notifications on PCs, ensuring users stay informed about iCloud emails and event invitations in the Calendar. Furthermore, users can now seamlessly insert links from one note to another, similar to the functionality in iOS 17.

Apple is also enhancing the iCloud Drive experience with a new list view and a preview option for files before downloading. Users can simply press the spacebar after selecting a file to access this feature.

In terms of email, the update enables users to create an iCloud email address directly from the web and provides an undo send option. Additionally, users can attach files and photos directly from iCloud Drive or Photos through the web interface.

The Photos web app has not been left out; it now supports Memories and introduces a slideshow view.

With these updates, even casual iCloud users can utilize the iCloud website as a web app on macOS Sonoma, which was recently released to users.

In a related announcement earlier this month, during the Wanderlust event, Apple introduced two new iCloud+ subscription tiers, offering 6TB of storage for $29.99 per month and 12TB of storage for $59.99 per month.
