Apple revamps iCloud.com with more features for drive, mail and notes

Apple has recently introduced a revamped iCloud.com website, enhancing its functionality. This update follows recent iOS, iPadOS, and macOS updates. The redesigned site now offers additional features, including browser notifications for Mail and Calendar when accessed on a PC, a customizable home page enabling quick actions, and a slideshow view for photos.

Last year, Apple had already given iCloud.com a makeover by introducing support for informative widgets, providing at-a-glance information from apps like Notes and Pages. This year’s update takes it a step further, allowing users to perform actions directly from the home page. Actions such as file downloads, email deletions, marking emails as unread, and completing tasks in reminders can all be executed without navigating away from the home page.

Moreover, the updated iCloud.com now supports browser notifications on PCs, notifying users of events like iCloud emails and Calendar invitations. Additionally, users can now insert links to one note within another note, similar to iOS 17.

Apple has also revamped the iCloud Drive experience, offering a new list view and the ability to preview files before downloading them. Simply select a file and press the spacebar to see a preview.

Furthermore, this update allows users to create an iCloud email address directly from the web and provides an “undo send” function. Users can also attach files and photos directly from iCloud Drive or Photos via the web interface.

The Photos web app has also received an upgrade, now supporting Memories and offering a slideshow view.

These updates make the iCloud website a valuable web app for casual users, particularly those using macOS Sonoma, which was released earlier this week.

Additionally, during its Wonderlust event earlier this month, Apple introduced two new iCloud+ subscription tiers offering 6TB of storage for $29.99 per month and 12TB of storage for $59.99 per month.
