TikTok’s newest feature lets you save favorite songs directly to Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music

TikTok has partnered with streaming music services such as Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music to introduce a new feature. Users can now save songs directly to their preferred streaming music app from TikTok videos. This addition aligns with TikTok’s growing influence on music charts and artist discovery. The new “Add to Music app” feature appears as an “Add Song” button next to a track name in the For You Feed. Users can set their preferred default music service upon the first interaction.

Although Apple Music wasn’t initially disclosed, it has been confirmed that it is part of the feature. For Spotify, users in the U.S. and U.K. can save songs to their “Liked Songs” playlist. The feature is accessible from the Settings page under “Music.” Amazon Music users in the U.S. and U.K. can add TikTok songs to a “TikTok Songs” playlist or another chosen playlist, limited to Prime members and Amazon Music Unlimited customers. Apple Music, being a paid service, offers this feature to its subscribers.

Both the TikTok and streaming music apps need to be updated for the feature to work. Spotify has rolled out the feature on its iOS and Android apps, joining other social integrations. Despite TikTok’s expansion into the streaming music realm, it continues to collaborate with competitors for integrations. The “Add to Music App” feature aims to strengthen the link between music discovery on TikTok and consumption on streaming services, providing greater value for artists and rightsholders.

TikTok has previously collaborated on music initiatives, including a top 50 song chart with Billboard and a program to identify rising artists. The feature is currently available to users in the U.S. and U.K., with plans for expansion to more markets.
