Amazon announced on Thursday that it is testing a novel grocery subscription service for Prime members in three cities. Priced at $9.99 per month, the subscription grants Prime members unlimited complimentary delivery for grocery orders exceeding $35 from Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh. Additionally, subscribers can enjoy unlimited 30-minute pickup for orders of any size.
The trial is currently underway in Denver, Sacramento, and Columbus, according to an email response from the company to TechCrunch.
Tony Hoggett, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Grocery Stores, stated, “We’re continuously experimenting with features to enhance the convenience, speed, and affordability of shopping, and we are eager to gather feedback from members taking advantage of this new offering.”
Presently, Prime members are charged a fee of $6.95 for Fresh orders ranging from $50 to $100 and $9.95 for orders under $50.
