Floworks is building an AI assistant to change how workers interact with software

Around the time when Sudipta Biswas and Sarthak Shrivastava, the co-founders of Floworks, were commencing their participation in Y Combinator’s Winter 23 cohort, they engaged in a discussion with experienced investor Vinod Khosla. During this conversation, Khosla encouraged them to adopt a more ambitious perspective. This exchange significantly impacted their journey while developing Floworks, an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant aimed at streamlining routine tasks within enterprises.

Today, the company has revealed securing a seed investment of $1.5 million. Fundamentally, Floworks offers an AI assistant capable of interacting with various everyday software tools like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Salesforce. Users can issue plain language instructions to these tools through the AI assistant to facilitate tasks. Notably, Floworks prioritizes utilizing AI to enhance the work experience, rather than displacing human employees.

Initially, Floworks primarily focuses on sales-related scenarios and supports several applications including HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Gmail. However, their objective is to expand the range of integrations over time, encompassing various aspects of business operations and products.

The workflow begins with users accessing the Floworks web application and logging into their desired applications. After authentication, they can utilize the Floworks assistant in Slack, employing natural language to describe tasks, such as entering new contacts into a CRM database, scheduling calendar invitations, and sending introductory emails.

Each action prompts approval, and if the AI bot requires additional information or clarification, it initiates a conversation within Slack. Floworks serves as a helpful assistant throughout this process. The company also plans to introduce compatibility with Microsoft Teams in the future.

The founders highlight the presence of a functional beta version with paying customers, boasting an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of nearly $250,000. Future revenue prospects involve collaboration with channel partners. The co-founders’ vision for Floworks is to establish it as an assistant capable of working seamlessly with almost any application accessible through their web app. They differentiate their product by emphasizing interoperability across various applications, a distinguishing feature that separates them from larger companies concentrating solely on their own product portfolios.

Currently, Floworks has a team of 11 employees situated in San Francisco and Bangalore, India. The founders consider fostering a diverse workforce crucial to the product’s success. They view diversity as integral to their mission of transforming the way software has been used since its inception. This viewpoint extends not only to employees but also to partners collaborating with them.

The recent $1.5 million seed funding round was led by Y Combinator and Sense AI, with participation from Gaingels, Entrepreneur First, and ThinKuvate. The funding process concluded in [Month, Year].
